As I’m sure you’re aware, Twitter is the hottest thing going right now on the internet. Now aside from being fun (and ridiculously addictive), it’s also an excellent source for driving traffic to your site, especially if your site is a blog.
Now how can you do this? I will cover the methods I myself have used with some success after the jump!
- Obviously, the first step should be sign up for a Twitter account. Once you have done so, perhaps you should customize your profile a bit, and definitely upload a photo! Don’t forget to be active on Twitter, nobody likes a wallflower!
- If you own or manage a self-hosted Wordpress blog, you should install the Twitter Tools plugin. Once it’s installed and activated, set it up so that every time you publish to your blog, the plugin sends an update (“tweet”) to Twitter. Set this on by default.
- Visit Crazy Bob’s Twubble. You can greatly increase the number of followers you get by using this awesome tool!
And that’s it! Some words of caution however: Don’t Tweet constantly about self-promotion. Have something useful/funny/entertaining/informative to say, and then from time-to-time let the Twitter Tools plugin do it’s work. You will find that not only will you get traffic, but you will get quality traffic. People who actually enjoy what you have to say on Twitter are going to like what you say on your blog. This is how I drive traffic using Twitter, and it can work for you too!
Anybody have some other tried and true Twitter traffic techniques? (nice alliteration there, huh!
) Drop me a comment!

Well put, couldn’t have said it better myself. You’re a great writer.
Thanks! I really should add more to this post, since I’ve discovered a bunch of other Twitter stuff I’ve been using.
